It's a challenge for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, those for the peak baggers, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have represented Australia over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to possess a record if never given the opportunity.

In the end, the outcome of Australia conceding 330 was skipper Alyssa Healy getting an opportunity to deliver her newest gem.

Originally famous as the teenage relative of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country couldn't capture either of the T20 or ODI World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup happened three months after her debut and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The determined wicketkeeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India momentarily interrupted the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to rethink our standards," Healy stated recently.

At the following one-day championship in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the title decider and was awarded tournament MVP. She ensured her country would not come up short.

Whether this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this knock followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because it seemed I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"Yet the moment you enter the playing area, your competitive nature kick in and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the opening delivery and from there the batsman was on her way.

"A chance to go out there and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three big hits.

Once she was dismissed Australia required another 66 at one run per ball - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before an encounter with traditional opponents England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a last-four spot may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a significant event.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she regretted not playing with the discomfort.

But while she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a global event as captain.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
