Viral video clips seemed to capture Jones making an obscene gesture at Jets fans, though he maintains he was actually giving a thumbs-up to Cowboys fans in attendance as his team secured a decisive win.
“It was unfortunate. It was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, our fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the gesture was completely unintentional, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s final touchdown. “I just put up the wrong finger,” he remarked. “It was accidentally performed. This is sincere. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been fined for inappropriate behavior. Previous examples include:
